Furniture Restoration
After telephone or e-mail contact I will visit you to inspect the furniture and discuss possible repairs and renovation. No furniture is too far gone if you still value it it can be restored. If visiting is difficult, I can usually do my initial recommendation from a few photographs. This preliminary inspection will enable me to estimate time and costs.
If agreed, then collection will be arranged. Some very large items requiring superficial repairs can often be done in-situ. Please browse through the restoration pictures to give you some idea of what is possible. You will see examples of a range of work such as re-jointing, inserting sections, veneering, varnishing and polishing.
Most structural repairs can be done invisibly and although modern glues and varnishes can be used they can be blended in to the old. Sometimes entire surfaces have to be re-polished, however, but this can be achieved sympathetically so as not to make too stark a contrast with the original. Often leaving some imperfections in a surface as well as gentle distressing can match existing patina. Although many clients want to keep the traditional polished look, they also ask for a modern durable finish to be used; this can be done to make it indistinguishable from the original.
Do contact me to discuss your furniture restoration. You may find that having that heirloom restored to its former glory may not be as expensive as you think.
