Furniture Restoration and bespoke designs
A personal service to clients requiring furniture restoration and bespoke designs for furniture, doors and windows. My work is divided between restoration of furniture, bespoke furniture design and building restoration, especially wooden features such as sash windows. I work alone so that I can spot problems and ensure quality. This also means the client has only one tradesman to whom needs and concerns are related. I work with a knowledge and sympathy for materials that makes renovating and making furniture so rewarding. The honest use of materials as well as an understanding of clients’ needs makes for a satisfied client.
Furniture
I am pleased to restore all types of furniture regardless of shape, size or age. Furniture can be designed, free standing or fitted, for any location be it lounge, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, office, shop or garden. I am equally happy designing traditional or contemporary styles.
Doors and Windows
I am pleased to undertake the fitting, repair or production of all types of doors and windows: from renovating to designing and making.
Traditional sash windows, in particular, are particularly needful of maintenance and repair. Nevertheless, as they are pleasing to look through and out of, as well as being very functional, they are well worth the cost of renovation. As many owners wish to, or are obliged to, retain the original design and size, sympathetic repairs are possible. Sometimes new sashes and frames have to be made, as they are unlikely to be stock items at a builders’ merchant. It is often expedient to invest in a draught proofing system once repairs are underway. Modern plastic and fibre extrusions can be fitted, almost invisibly, into existing sashes. Draft proofing will lead not only to a substantial reduction in draughts and consequent heat loss but will also allow the sashes to slide more smoothly and eliminate rattles and in-blown dust. Double-glazing is another option if heat loss or noise is of concern.
