Fire and water damaged mahogany desk
This partners desk has suffered extensive fire and water damage. Several of the panels had been burnt badly, a lot of veneers had lifted, many of the mouldings were lost and many joints were loose. Many mahogany panels had to be inserted into the existing panels. Several of the dovetail joints had to be re-cut and glued. Most of the veneers had to be re-layed. One of the most difficult tasks was carving and moulding the lost decorative motifs and mouldings. The leather was replaced with a new skiver. Although originally considered irreparable, we ended up with a most desirable and useful partners desk with even more history.
